Kenya, As It's Meant To Be Seen

From the wildebeest herds of the Masai Mara to the white sand of Diani Beach, we build tailor-made itineraries around what you actually want to see — not a fixed package.

Kenya's Signature Destinations

Eight regions that between them cover the Great Migration, the Big Five, the Rift Valley and the Swahili Coast.

Masai Mara

Masai Mara National Reserve

Kenya's flagship reserve dense predator populations year round and the dramatic Mara River crossings during the migration season.

Amboseli

Amboseli National Park

Large free roaming elephant herds set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, just across the border in Tanzania.

Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park

A fenced rhino sanctuary (both black and white rhino) and in the right season, thousands of flamingos along the shoreline.

Tsavo National Park

Tsavo East & West

Kenya's largest protected area, known for red-dust elephants, the Mzima Springs and dramatic lava rock landscapes.

Diani Beach

Diani Beach & the Swahili Coast

Powder white sand, coral reefs for diving and snorkelling and dhow sailing trips out of Mombasa a natural add-on after a game drive.

Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve

Northern Kenya's drier landscapes hold species you won't see further south, plus a strong Samburu cultural presence.

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha & Hell's Gate

Boat rides among hippos and one of the few parks in Kenya where you can cycle or walk freely alongside wildlife.

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park

Lions and rhino within sight of the city skyline a good first or last stop, paired with the Giraffe Centre or the elephant nursery nearby.

Planning Your Dates

Kenya is a year round destination, but the calendar below shapes what you'll see.

January – March

Hot and mostly dry. Calving season for the wildebeest herds further south and excellent birdwatching across the Rift Valley lakes.

April – May

The long rains. Parks are quieter and greener, lodge rates drop, but some roads get harder going.

June – October

The dry season and peak game viewing. The wildebeest herds typically move into the Masai Mara and the river crossings draw crowds around July–September.

November – December

Short rains bring the landscape back to green. Good visibility, fewer vehicles at the sightings and a natural pairing with a Christmas beach stay on the coast.

The Big Five, and Where to Find Them

Lion

Reliable sightings in the Masai Mara, where prides are large and well habituated to vehicles.

Leopard

Shier and mostly nocturnal Samburu and the Mara's riverine forest give the best odds.

Elephant

Amboseli and Tsavo hold some of Kenya's largest herds, several with visible tusker bulls.

Buffalo

Found in large herds across almost every park often the first Big Five sighting of a trip.

Rhino

Lake Nakuru's sanctuary is the most consistent spot for both black and white rhino.

Cultural Experiences

Maasai Communities

Village visits around the Mara give a look at traditional homesteads, beadwork and the adumu jumping dance arranged directly with the community, not a staged stop.

Samburu Heritage

Close cousins of the Maasai in the north, the Samburu retain a distinct dress, language and pastoral way of life worth building a day around.

Swahili Coast Heritage

Fort Jesus in Mombasa and the Lamu Old Town UNESCO site trace centuries of Swahili, Arab and Portuguese trading history along the coast.
